For more than 300 years Catholics have practiced their faith in this area of Charles County, Maryland. We are a parish of about 800 families located approximately a 30 miles south of Washington D.C. Our parish was officially incorporated in 1793, but the history of organized worship by Catholics in the Bryantown area reaches back even further. The cemetery behind and adjacent to the church is very historic. In fact, the grave of Dr. Samuel Mudd, the physician who treated the broken leg of John Wilkes Booth, is located in our cemetery.
Our parish school is attended by approximately 220 children, Pre-K through 8th grade. St. Mary’s School, which has been in existence since 1915, is fully accredited by the Middle States Association.
The Lord has greatly blessed this parish in the past, and we look to the future with confidence and trust. We welcome you to our parish as we follow the Lord Jesus together under the watchful care of his Mother.
